The Monarch Mystery

Every year, millions of butterflies arrive at the same handful of sites in Mexico and although they've never been there before. It's a flight of faith that reminds us of our own journey as Spirit-guided Christians.

When Chris and Holly planned their outdoor wedding in the foothills west of Golden, Colorado, they wanted to create a memorable experience for both themselves and their guests. And for many reasons, it was. The final piece of the ceremony came when the minister pronounced them husband and wife. At a prearranged signal, a flock of pure white doves was released into the air. They took off with a loud fluttering of their wings, flew in a wide arc away from the assembly, and then, like Thunderbird jets flying in formation, did a swooping fly-by over the guests that provoked oohs and aahs of admiration and amazement. They then flew away until they were no longer visible.

The practice is becoming more common these days - doves at weddings. It's not like they're being thrown into the wild, to fend for themselves. They quickly return home to the stoops and coops where they live, and next week they'll be blessing someone else's wedding.

This ability to find home evokes legends of Rover or Fido...
